Word # 1

Swarm / Swarms (noun)

Definition: a large group of insects all moving together / a large group of people all moving together

 

Sentence: 1. The dead sheep was covered with swarms of flies. 2.  A swarm of bees/wasps/ants/locusts 3. A swarm of/Swarms of journalists followed the film star's car.

 

 

Word # 2

Picturesque (adjective)

Definition: charming / attractive in appearance

Sentence: 1. The picturesque narrow streets of the old city. 2. This landscape before my eyes is quite picturesque 3. The calm lake and the orange morning sky created a picturesque landscape.



Word # 3

Assorted (adjective)

Definition: mixed / various / consisting of various types mixed together

Sentence: 1. A case of assorted fizzy drinks. 2. The Cebu City government has only applied for the renewal of the licenses of 219 firearms out of the 504 assorted guns it owns.



Word # 4

Sparse (adjective)

Definition: small in number our amount, often scattered over a large area

Sentence: 1. A sparse population / audience. 2. His sparse beard was long and gray. 3. Sparse vegetation/woodland






Word # 5

Dominant (adjective)

Definition: main / leading / more important, strong or noticeable than anything else of the same type

Sentence: 1. Unemployment will be a dominant issue at the next election. 2. For most people the right hand is the dominant hand. 3. He had a dominant role in the team.
