Word # 1

Endeavor (verb)

Definition: try / attempt / to try to do something


Sentence: 1. We endeavor to respond directly to our customers. 2. He said he would endeavor to improve his grades. 3. Engineers are endeavoring to locate the source of the problem. 4. The magician endeavors to keep all the pigeons in the cage.


Word # 2

Eloquent (adjective)

Definition: fluent / expressive / articulate / expressing yourself readily, clearly, effectively

Sentence: 1. Barack Obama was very eloquent during his last Presidential Speech. 2. She made an eloquent appeal for action. 3. While Lincoln's appearance was that of common farmer, his Gettysburg address speech is considered one of the most eloquent in American history. 


Word # 3

Radical (adjective)

Definition: a person who advocates fundamental political, economic, and social reforms by direct and often uncompromising methods / believing or expressing the belief that there should be great or extreme social or political change

Sentence: 1. He was known as a radical reformer/thinker/politician. 2. These people have very radical views. 3.  A radical change in the policy of a company.



Word # 4

Drastic (adjective)

Definition: forceful and extreme / (especially of actions) severe and sudden or having very noticeable effects

Sentence: 1. We have to take drastic measures! 2. Many employees have had to take drastic cuts in pay. 3. I just had a drastic change in my I Q; I can't answer most of the questions.



Word # 5

Impostor (noun)

Definition: charlatan / fake / fraud / a person who pretends to be someone else in order to deceive others

Sentence: 1. He felt like an impostor among all those intelligent people, as if he had no right to be there. 2. He said he was a police officer, but turned out to be an impostor.
