Word # 1

Panic (noun)

Definition: sudden overpowering terror or horror / a sudden strong feeling of fear that prevents reasonable thought and action


Sentence: 1. He got in a panic that he would forget his lines on stage. 2. Panic spread through the crowd as the bullets started to fly. 3. Carmel was in a panic about her exam. 4. Any where and everywhere will be panic.


Word # 2

Illuminate (verb)

Definition: light up / make bright / decorate / to light something and make it brighter / to explain and show more clearly something that is difficult to understand

Sentence: 1. The streets were illuminated with strings of coloured lights. 2. The truth which illuminates the hearts of men. 3. The moon illuminated the dark night. 4. He always an article which illuminates the issues at stake. 



Word # 3

Avert (verb)

Definition: prevent / turn away / to prevent something bad from happening / avoid

Sentence: 1. The truck driver averted an accident by driving onto the grassy bank. 2. We averted our eyes from looking at the solar eclipse. 3. To avert a crisis/conflict/strike/famine 4. To avert disaster/economic collapse



Word # 4

Beseech (verb)

Definition: beg / request earnestly / to ask for something in a way that shows you need it very much

Sentence: 1. Who, like us also beseech their creator for their needs. 2. Stay a little longer, I beseech you! 3. I beseech you to visit me.



Word # 5

Perceive (verb)

Definition: to become aware of through the senses / to come to an opinion about something, or have a belief about something

Sentence: 1. Women's magazines are often perceived to be superficial. 2. Nor can they perceive when they shall be raised again. 3. I can perceive that you don't like me.
