Word # 1

Escort (verb)

Sentence: Several little boats escorted the sailing ship into the harbour. / The officer escorted the prisoner to the dock. / People on the tour will be escorted by an expert on archaeology.



Word # 2

Anxiety (noun)

Sentence: Dona felt much anxiety over her piano test coming up. / Students often experience anxiety before a test. / Children normally feel a lot of anxiety about their first day at school.



Word # 3

Gruesome (adjective)

Sentence: The newspaper article included a gruesome description of the murder. / The detectives in the murder enquiry made a gruesome discovery in the garden shed.







Word # 4

Heartrending (adjective)

Sentence: A heartrending story / The audience at the stadium were heartrending when they heard that the soccer match was cancelled.



Word # 5

Twilight (noun)

Sentence: Twilight is my favorite time of day. / Riley was enjoying a midnight walk when the twilight touched the hills over the horizon.
