Lesson No. 1


 

 

Word # 1

Incur (Verb)

Sentence: You'll incur the wrath of every e-mail buddy you unknowingly infect because of your carelessness. / The play has incurred the wrath/anger of both audiences and critics.

  

 

Word # 2

Oddity (noun)

Sentence: I should start by saying that not every system oddity is due to a virus. 

 

 

Word # 3

Amiss (adjective)

Sentence: A lot of network activity coming from your system (when you're not actually using Internet) can be a good indicator that something is amiss. / I could see by the look on their faces that something was amiss.

 

 

Word # 4

Dictum (noun)

Sentence: A fulfilling and exciting life is the dictum behind our every move. / He followed the famous American dictum, 'Don't get mad, get even'.

 

 

Word # 5

Umpteen (determiner noun)

Sentence: And should still be in top form and fully focused during the umpteenth meeting of the day. / We've been there umpteen times and she still can't remember the way. / I drank my umpteenth cup of coffee.
