Lesson No. 36



Word # 1

Enchant (verb)

Definition: to attract or please someone very much / fill (someone) with great delight and charm / to delight or fascinate / to delight to a high degree

                                                          
Sentence: 1. The audience was clearly enchanted by her performance. 2. The book has enchanted children for almost a century. 3. The beauty of the place enchants everyone. 4. She enchanted audience with her charming voice. 5. Sustainable architecture should also enchant and nourish the imagination.


Word # 2

Morgue (verb)

Definition: a place in which bodies are kept, especially the bodies of victims of violence or accidents, pending identification or burial / place where dead bodies are kept 

 

Sentence: 1. His body was unclaimed in the hospital morgue until this week. 2. Today he picked up her mangled body from the city morgue. 3. The victim's body was delivered to the morgue. 4. She had started to tremble when we asked her to visit morgue with us.


Word # 3

Intuitive (adjective)

Definition: based on feelings rather than facts or proof / able to know or understand something because of feelings rather than facts or proof / using or based on what one feels to be true even without conscious reasoning

 

Sentence: 1. an intuitive approach / judgment / mind / knowledge / person / sense 2. She has an intuitive mind. 3. Most people have an intuitive sense of right and wrong. 4. Men are often regarded as less intuitive than women. 5. A doctor with an intuitive awareness of his patients' concerns


Word # 4

Resilient (adjective)

Definition: able to quickly return to a previous good condition from illness, depression or adversity / (of a person or animal) able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions / (of a substance or object) returning to the original form or position after being bent, compressed, or stretched.
 

Sentence: 1. She is resilient girl so she won't be unhappy for long. 2. The local economy is remarkably resilient. 3. The fish are resilient to most infections. 4. This rubber ball is very resilient and immediately springs back into shape.


Word # 5

Lullaby (noun / verb)

Definition: a quiet song which is sung to children to help them go to sleep / sing a song (lullaby) to quiet children or help them to sleep

Sentence: 1. Sleep pretty darling, do not cry and I will sing a lullaby... 2. She is singing the baby a lullaby. 3. My mother used to lullaby us. 4. A lullaby is usually sung to young children before they go to sleep, with the intention of speeding that process.
